How can we help you get back to dancing after an injury?

The performing arts require an enormous amount of athleticism, which makes dancers susceptible to distinct injuries different from those in other sports. Leah's unique combination of Pilates and Manual Therapy has made her an a sought after holistic provider in the Dance Medicine community.

Proper treatment of dancers requires a familiarity with their needs and an extensive knowledge of the demands of their sport to properly treat injuries and return dancers safely to activity. Leah has had the honor of being personally mentored in dance rehabilitation by one of the countries leading Dance Physical Therapists, Samara DiMattia M.S.P.T. Samara was the original PT aid to Dance Medicine pioneer Marika Molnar (Physical Therapist for New York City Ballet)

Because the majority of dance injuries result from muscular imbalance, tissue overuse, and subtle alignment issues most dancers respond quickly to conservative rehabilitation. When treated properly dancers can limit their time away from the studio, return stronger, and reduce risk or injuries in the future. If anything is out of our scope of practices Leah will refer you to the right person and make sure you are in excellent hands.
